Future Building Plans: A Call to Action
By Brett King, Headmaster

For more than a year, we have kept you posted on Rocky Mountain Christian Church's proposed expansion. The expansion plan will be considered by the Boulder County Commissioners on Monday evening, November 7 at 6:00 at Niwot High School. The commissioners’ decision will impact RMCA. And now, more than ever, we need your help!

As you may know, the proposed improvements include a new education wing for dynamic children's ministry and quality classroom space for Rocky Mountain Christian Academy. Other components include meeting space for church and community organizations, a new gymnasium, renovation of the existing worship auditorium, new atrium and chapel, additional parking, and extensive landscaping to enhance the site and minimize the impact on neighbors.

We want to continue to be a resource, service provider, and community asset to Niwot and Boulder County area residents. RMCC is much more than a church. It is also an important community resource that provides childcare, education, and other important social services to those in our immediate community. In fact, seventy-five percent of church members, and an even higher percentage of RMCA families, live within 7 miles of the church. Our historic commitment to the community shows in the nearly 170 community groups, non-profit organizations, and youth groups of Boulder County that use our facilities free of charge, for church members and non-members alike.
An important element of our expansion plan's approval process is to show extensive, visible support from throughout the community. We need the assistance and support of RMCA families. Here are some things you can do:

1. Pray and fast. I plan to spend my normal lunchtime each Friday in October praying specifically for this project. I believe that prayer matters. So wherever you are or whenever you may be able to pray and fast, it will make a difference!

2. Become educated on the expansion plan. For images, facts, and details, visit www.bcinbc.org, a special website RMCC has created for the expansion.

3. If you live in Boulder County, put a "I support RMCC" yard sign in your yard. This shows broad community support for RMCC and the community services RMCC provides (signs available in the office).

4. Write a letter to the Boulder County Commissioners. The expansion plan must be approved by them. If you support the expansion plan and the benefits it will bring to your children and to Niwot area residents, we encourage you to respectfully communicate your support (contact info below).

5. Plan to attend the Monday evening, November 7 public hearing at 6:00 at Niwot High School. We want to fill the room to show the county commissioners how extensive the community support is for RMCC and RMCA.

For more information or if you have any questions, be sure to visit the bcinbc.com website, or feel free to contact us. We at RMCC and RMCA know the impact we have on our community for good. Thank you for helping us in spreading that message to our county leaders.
