Tuition Assistance Q&A
Below are some common questions about the
RMCA Tuition Assistance program. Hopefully the answers will be helpful.
If you have additional questions, feel free to contact Sue
Comstedt (303-652-6872).
How are scholarships funded?
The scholarship committee solicits funds from private
donors and foundations to meet the needs of families who qualify for
tuition assistance.
Does RMCA guarantee that funds will be available
to families who qualify?
No. Because funds are donated, the amount of money
available is limited by the amount collected. In addition, the scholarship
committee places a limit on the number of students who can receive assistance.
No more than 10% of the students enrolled in RMCA can receive assistance.
How does the scholarship committee determine
who qualifies for assistance?
Scholarship awards are based first and foremost on
financial need. A company named DTS objectively analyzes the information
reported on the Confidential Financial Analysis form. DTS then sends
a report to the scholarship committee. Based on this report and the
consideration of any unique circumstances, the committee determines
the amount of assistance for which a family is eligible. Those with
the greatest need receive priority. The committee also gives priority
to families who have received assistance in previous years.
If funds are available and a family qualifies
for assistance, what amount is awarded?
Scholarships generally range from 10% to 50% of a family’s total
tuition, depending on financial need.
When will I know if my family will receive
tuition assistance?
After the questionnaire is received by RMCA and the
Confidential Financial Analysis form is received by DTS, it generally
takes 2-4 weeks for the committee to determine eligibility. The committee
makes every effort to notify families as soon as possible if they will
be receiving assistance. However, funds often come in just prior to
the start of school, and sometimes after the start of school.
Do pastors, missionaries, or RMCA employees
receive tuition discounts?
Yes. RMCA desires to recognize the sacrifices of
those families who have committed their lives to full-time Christian
service. These tuition discounts are not scholarships, however. Tuition
discounts are funded out of the general operating budget of RMCA.
