Curriculum

Rocky Mountain Christian School Curriculum Areas

At RMCA, we spread a rich, wide feast of varying curriculum areas for children to relish and enjoy. Short lessons allow children to remain alert and interested throughout the day.  Our students build personal relationships with God's creation, great men and women of history, and transformative ideas expressed in each of their subjects.

Each student does the scholar’s work of the reading and study of living books. These primary sources of truth, beauty, and wisdom give the student the opportunity to experience for herself the thrill of encountering transformative ideas. Avoiding textbooks of dry, predigested facts, our curricula is designed to nourish the child’s curiosity and interest. This exposure also includes direct contact and observation of real objects from nature (e.g. minerals, plants, and animals), as well as resources from the arts (e.g. pieces of art, music, maps).

Keeping these goals in mind, RMCA’s curricula provides the following critical elements:

"The question is not,—how much does the youth know? when he has finished his education—but how much does he care? and about how many orders of things does he care? In fact, how large is the room in which he finds his feet set? and therefore, how full is the life he has before him?"
